Abstract

Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the mediating effect of happiness on the relationship betweengratitude disposition and psychological well-being among nurses working at general hospitals.

Methods: Theparticipants were 200 nurses working at general hospitals. A structured questionnaire was administered, and datawere collected from November 20, 2020 to December 10, 2020. Data were analyzed using hierarchical linearregression with SPSS for Windows 25.0.

Results: Gratitude disposition (¥â=.62, p<.001) and happiness (¥â=.66,p<.001) were identified as significant predictors of the psychological well-being of clinical nurses. These variablesexplained 64% of the variance in nurse¡¯s psychological well-being. Moreover, happiness had a partial mediatingeffect on the relationship between gratitude disposition and psychological well-being.

Conclusion: In order toimprove the psychological well-being of clinical nurses, an emotion management program related to gratitudedisposition and happiness should be developed and provided.
